Basic movement pattern skills focus:
    • developed control of weight transfer [passing the ball] in the direction of the intended target

    • developed demonstration of a range of absorption along the force path [catching or trapping the ball] before changing the direction on the force in a pass to the intended target
  • developed control of weight transfer [passing the game object] in the direction of the intended target
  • developed demonstration of a range of absorption along the force path [catching or trapping the game object] before changing the direction on the force

Here is the rubric we use to assess you basic movement pattern.

Exemplary
Grade A
Student exhibits significant understanding of the key movement patterns of the unit. In addition to consistently meeting grade or course level expectations, student demonstrates flexible application of skills and is able to transfer learning to new situations.
  • exemplary control of weight transfer [passing the game object] in the direction of the intended target
  • exemplary demonstration of a range of absorption along the force path  [catching or trapping the game object] before changing the direction on the force
           the game object.

  • Soccer:
Exemplary balance when accurately passing the ball the while starting and stopping, changing direction and moving with agility in a game situation.

  • Soccer:
Exemplary control of footwork to maintain centre of gravity when successfully catching the ball in a game situation.

Meeting Expectation
Grade B
Student exhibits understanding of the key movement patterns of the unit.  Student consistently meets grade or course level expectations.
  • developed control of weight transfer [passing the game object] in the direction of the intended target
  • developed demonstration of a range of absorption along the force path [catching or trapping the game object] before changing the direction on the force

  • Soccer:
Can retain balance when accurately passing the ball the while starting and stopping, changing direction and moving.

  • Soccer:

  • developing control of weight transfer in the direction of the intended target
  • developing demonstration of a range of absorption along the force path [catching or trapping the game object] before changing the direction on the force

  • Soccer:
Can sometimes retain balance when passing the ball the while starting and stopping and changing direction.

  • Soccer:
Can sometimes control footwork to maintain centre of gravity when catching the ball while moving.
Below Expectation
Grade D
Student exhibits limited understanding of the key movement patterns of the unit. Student has minimal success in using the concepts and skills, both simple and complex.  Student seldom meets grade or course level expectations.
  • Limited control of weight transfer in the direction of the intended target
  • Limited demonstration of a range of absorption along the force path [catching or trapping the game object] before changing the direction on the force

  • Soccer:
Can seldom retain balance when passing the ball the while starting and stopping and changing direction.
