Student Rubric
To receive an A:
When sending the basketball student demonstrates:
-exemplary balance;
-Is able to successfully send while in motion, stopping, starting and changing direction
-lead foot steps during the motion of the pass;
-weight is transfered through the hips and arms, ball released with wrists snapped and thumbs down on release ,fingers pointing towards target
-ball reaches the target with accuracy and a speed that is desirable for control dependent on distance and context.
When receiving the basketball the student demonstrates:
-Exemplary control of footwork to maintain center of gravity;
-Judges trajectory and direction of pass, adjusts and positions body for absorbing the force of the pass and successfully controlling the ball.
To receive a B:
When sending the basketball student demonstrates:
-Mostly retains balance;
-Often must be in stationary position to successfully send the ball successfully
-lead foot mostly steps through the passing motion to increase force of the pass
-weight is transfered through the ball and the arms are usually extended during the action of sending;
-Is mostly accurate in sending the ball to target
When receiving the basketball the student demonstrates:
Maintain center of gravity when receiving
-Often must be stationary to successfully receive.
-Struggles to absorb the force of the ball
-Moves to open space to look for pass
To receive a C:
When sending the basketball student demonstrates:
-Does not have a lot of balance when sending the ball
-the ball does not reach target consistently due to lack of required force
-student struggles to transfer their weight as does not step through the pass
-the ball is not properly held with both hands on the sides at chest level;
arms tend not to extend when passing
-wrists aren’t typically snapped when passing
When receiving the basketball the student demonstrates:
-difficult balancing
-struggles to adjust balance to receive the ball;
-struggles to absorb the force of the ball, often losing control
-does not move to open spaces
-seldom anticipates the trajectory/direction of the ball
I love basketball and it is my favorite sport. My favorite player in the history of basketball is Michael Jordan.
